Anton Corbijn’s feature film, CONTROL, the acclaimed biopic of Joy Division’s lead singer Ian Curtis, opens at Athens lovely art house cinema, Ciné on January 11 and runs through Thursday, January 17 (showtimes: 4:15p 7:15p 9:45p). Local record shop Wuxtry will have a table set up during Control’s opening weekend and will sell copies of the soundtrack, the newly released Joy Division reissues and copies of Deborah Curtis’ book, “Touching From A Distance” on which the movie is based.
In another coup, Ciné has also landed HEIMA the documentary about one of our favorite band’s, Sigur Ros. Heima shows Thursday January 10.
If you’re in Athens this week, please be sure to stop by and see the films.
While we’re at it, kudos to Ciné’s owner-operator, Brigitta Hangartner who was recently named the Business Newsmaker of the year in Athens by the Athens Banner Herald. Congratulations, Brigitta, for a job well done.
