One of the effects of the end of summer vacation is that one relishes reading all the leisure stuff possible–books, magazine, papers, the web. Well, these are my three favorite Opinion pieces I have come across here on the morning we head for home:
National Division: Frank Rich on the State of the States Over Beer and Race (as usual, Frank Rich nails it in his regular Sunday NYT column):
Local Division: the Athens Banner Herald recognizing the great work of a few of the many dedicated teachers in Athens public schools (some of whom I am very lucky to know):
Web/International Division: Salon.com’s Juan Cole on the surprising similarities of two prominent political figures:
Anyway, we get home tomorrow–somebody set the TiVo for the Sugarland special on ABC tonight: they evidently cover Nightswimming and The One I Love to quite good effect.
