EVERY MOTHER COUNTS: MICHAEL TALKS ABOUT CD PROJECT FOR MATERNAL HEALTH

As daughters and sons everywhere get ready to celebrate Mother’s Day next weekend (May 8), Michael wanted to pass along the news that his good friend and maternal health-relief activist Christy Turlington Burns has a CD compilation called Every Mother Counts featuring songs on the theme of motherhood inspired by her documentary film, No Woman, No Cry. The CD is currently being sold at Starbucks and includes many of Christy’s favorite artists and musicians who are also mothers. Patti Scialfa, Gwyneth Paltrow, Dixie Chicks, Karen Elson!!, Angelique Kidjo, Roseanne Cash, Carla Bruni, the great Martha Wainwright, and Sinead O’Connor each contributed tracks. In support of Christy’s efforts, Starbucks is donating $8 from the sale of each CD sold to CARE, a partner in action with Christy’s organization, Every Mother Counts, for maternal health-relief efforts worldwide. Here’s what Michael had to say:
