Peter Buck on “Losing My Religion”:
Funny enough, Warner Bros. did not want “Losing My Religion” as a single. I can’t remember what they wanted as the first single. In those days you could put a record out and have a single that wasn’t a hit and still maybe have a second single. It felt like to us that “Losing My Religion” would be a great intro song, and then they could go for something more obvious. It kind of took off. I don’t know if it went as high in the charts as other singles of ours but it certainly was the biggest hit we ever had internationally. It changed our world. We went from selling a few million worldwide with Green to over 10 million. It was in that area where we had never been before which isn’t bad.
Michael on “Losing My Religion”
