NPR TO WEBCAST/BROADCAST R.E.M.’S SXSW SHOW (updated)

National Public Radio will webcast and broadcast (and possibly podcast!) R.E.M.’s performance at Stubb’s Bar-B-Q on Wednesday, March 12. The web/broadcast, set for 8pm (CT), is one of two SXSW 2008 Showcase Concerts, and will also include performances by supporting bands, Dead Confederate, Johnathan Rice, Papercranes, and Summerbirds in the Cellar.

Additionally, for the second year in a row, NPR and five NPR Member stations – KUT Austin, WFUV New York, WXPN Philadelphia, KEXP Seattle and The Current from Minnesota Public Radio – will offer extensive coverage of the influential music festival on-air and online.

The concert will be anchored by Bob Boilen, host and creator of NPR Music’s popular show All Songs Considered and its Live in Concert series, who will be joined by other personalities from NPR Music and the NPR Member stations.
