Peter Buck and Patterson Hood of the Drive-By Truckers got together recently to write a song inspired by Brent Hendricks’s memoir A Long Day at the End of the World. The book, about the mass corpse desecration at the Tri-State Crematory in Noble, Georgia, in 2002, “captures the feeling of the reluctant Southerner,” Peter says, “carrying in his heart a place he can neither forget, nor remember without pain, as well as anything I have ever read” (source). Obviously we think you should read this book. Peter Buck thinks so, too. But first, listen to this haunting song and learn how it came to be. You can check it out here.
