As we reported back in June, Peter plays guitar on the forthcoming John Wesley Harding album, The Sound Of His Own Voice, due out October 11th on Yep Roc. Today, we just received news from Wes himself that the record is now available for pre-order from the the fine folks at Yep Roc.
Recorded at The Type Foundry in Portland, Oregon, the album was produced by Scott McCaughey and Harding and mixed by Tucker Martine and features 13 new JWH songs, with Peter playing a variety of instruments on all tracks.
“The members of The Decemberists, with Peter Buck chiming in on 12-string throughout, and all-rounder Scott McCaughey – well known to your R.E.M. parish – producing, not to mention Rosanne Cash, John Roderick and Laura Veirs – it’s a DREAM TEAM! I’m writing the songs and doing the singing rather than either Michael Stipe or Colin Meloy – but, hey, you can’t have everything. Please enjoy this album, made with love, by people you love, for you,” said Wes.
The first song from the album, “Sing Your Own Song,” is available for free download at John Wesley Harding’s Official Facebook page. To get it, simply ‘like’ the page, click on the link under the photograph on the right, and enjoy!
Also, feel free to follow John Wesley Harding on Twitter (@wesleystace) and expect a tour with the full band in November.
