Reveal 25th Anniversary Edition Coming November 20th

25 years later, there’s more to Reveal.

Arriving November 20, Reveal (25th Anniversary Edition) expands R.E.M.’s 2001 album with The Black Sessions Revealed, a previously unreleased 17-song performance recorded for Radio France in Paris just days before the album’s release.

The deluxe edition also features new liner notes by journalist Birgit Fuss, with fresh reflections from Michael, Peter and Mike on the making of Reveal and the place the album holds in the R.E.M. catalog.

The Black Sessions Revealed will also be available as a standalone 2-LP set, including a Neon Pink pressing exclusive to REMHQ.com. Also available exclusively at REMHQ is the original 1-LP Reveal album on Neon Orange vinyl.

“Imitation of Life (The Black Sessions)” is out now.

“We were not thinking about a buoyant summertime record, but that is certainly what it turned into,” recalls Mike in Fuss’ new liner notes. “It’s very happy, and also kind of wistful in some ways. It looks at summers present and summers past.” That feeling carries throughout Reveal. “I’ve always said it’s our most underrated record,” Mike adds. “Not only are the songs and the performances good, but it captures a feeling that holds throughout the entire record.”
