THE COMMUNITY CHORUS PROJECT RELEASES DEBUT SINGLE, “BING CROSBY” FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Back in August 2011, the Community Chorus Project, a Chapel Hill, NC, based group of high school aged singers covered R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts,” and we enthusiastically posted it on remhq.com and R.E.M.’s Facebook page. Now, just in time for the holidays, the Chorus Project, founded by arts entrepreneur Lauren Hodge, has released its first single “Bing Crosby.” Featuring 15-year-old Durham School of the Arts student, Wilson Plonk on lead vocals, this Christmas song was written by chorus director, Seamus Kenney. Kenney co-produced the track with singer/songwriter, Chris Stamey, founder of seminal band, the dB’s. The song was recorded at Kenan Rehearsal Hall on the campus of UNC, Chapel Hill and at Modern Recording, Stamey’s Chapel Hill based studio, and includes contributions from members of Lost in the Trees and the dB’s. Check out the video for “Bing Crosby” at thechorusproject.org and download a copy at bandcamp.
