One of the big highlights in Athens this weekend will be Mitch Easter’s show at the 40 Watt with Atlanta powerpop band Magnapop and Chris McKay and the Critical Darlings. Mitch, longtime friend of the band, whom R.E.M. fans know as the producer of Chronic Town and as co-producer of Murmur and Reckoning along with Don Dixon, also fronted one of the seminal bands of the 1980s, Let’s Active. He continues to helm the mixing board at The Fidelitorium, near Winston-Salem when he isn’t touring. Welcome to town Mitch.

As we’ve previously reported, an expanded and remastered 25th anniversary deluxe edition of FABLES OF THE RECONSTRUCTION will be reissued on July 13th. Spinner.com, MOG, and Consequence of Sound get in on the Fables reissue conversation at each of the highlighted links so read more about it.
P.S. Happy Fathers Day
