WEEKEND ROUNDUP: WURZBURG TONIGHT…MANCHESTER SUNDAY

The band is in Wurzburg, Germany tonight for a concert at the magnificent Residenzplatz, the beautiful city square which is as fine an example of baroque architecture as one could hope to find just about anywhere. Quite a place for a concert and another in a long line of performances this tour and over the years in public squares in Germany and throughout Europe. After friday night’s Wurzburg show, the guys zoom over to the UK where they’ll catch their breath on Saturday and then play Manchester, Cardiff, Southampton, and London’s Twickenham Stadium (after a headline slot at the Paris Rock en Seine Festival on August 28th). The Cardiff show on August 25th at the CIA is sold out, but some tickets are still available for Manchester, Southhampton, and the London show. Click HERE for more information.

If you’re unable to make the Manchester show on Sunday, XFM Radio will be broadcasting R.E.M.’s August 14th headlining concert from the Frequency Festival in Salzburg, Austria. The show is set to air at 8PM UK time. As of yet, no link is available, but details can be found at XFM.co.uk in this article on the band.

In the meantime, check out these reviews posted at the Manchester page of the R.E.M. tour site in the “Blogs” section. And remember, you can follow the entire tour at this site where fans continue to post photos, tweets, and video footage.

p.s.: and check out this interesting article on Rickenbacker guitars featuring a word or two or three from our very own Dewitt Burton, R.E.M.’s equipment manager extraodinaire. Way to go D!
