EUROPEAN TOUR MOVES TO SPAIN, TURKEY, AND GREECE

It’s hard to believe it, but the band’s European tour, which began back on July 2nd in Amsterdam, comes to a close Sunday following two shows in Spain this week and weekend shows in Istanbul, Turkey, and Athens, Greece. The first of the tour’s final four stops is Murcia, Spain, where Tuesday night, the guys play a show at the Plaza de Toros de Murcia. Then it’s a couple of hundred miles northwest to Madrid’s Plaza de Toros de las ventas for a concert on Wednesday. On Saturday, R.E.M. will play their maiden concert in Istanbul, Turkey, at Turkcell Kurucesme Arena. The European Tour finale will be on Sunday night in Athens, Greece, as part of MTV’s special launch of their new channel, MTV Greece, at the MTV GR Day concert. In Athens, the guys will be joined by Kaiser Chiefs, Gabriella Cilmi, and C:Real at the Olympic Stadium. The concert is FREE! Tour Resumes October 24th In Dallas

After a three week break in October, the band launches a thirteen-date Fall Tour in Dallas at the Nokia Theatre on October 24th. After playing the Voodoo Festival in New Orleans on October 26th, R.E.M. heads to South America for only the second time ever for 10 dates beginning with a show at Parque Simon Bolivar in Bogota, Colombia, followed by shows in Buenos Aires, Santiago, Chile, Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro, and Sao Paulo, Brazil, Lima, Peru, and Caracas, Venezuela.
