iPHONE APP RECAP, CLASSICAL R.E.M., VIC, AND GIFTS IDEAS

The big news from camp R.E.M. over the weekend is the official launch of the R.E.M. iPhone app, an absolute must for all iPhone-carrying-R.E.M. fans and, we might add, one that is absolutely FREE. What a great deal and what a great phone app, if we don’t mind saying so ourselves.

Second, if you didn’t catch Terry Gross’ interview with our friend, neighbor and Athens music hero Vic Chesnutt last week, check it out at NPR.org. Vic has a great new album out called At The Cut.

This week’s From The Top, the NPR program devoted to performances by and interviews with young classical musicians, features a special interpretation of R.E.M.’s “World Leader Pretend” by host Christopher O’Riley. The program airing this week was recorded at the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts at Emory University in Atlanta on November 4th. Please visit From The Top for more information.

Finally, if you’re still looking for the perfect gift for that special R.E.M. fan in your life, be sure to have a look at the super special edition of LIVE AT THE OLYMPIA here. Warner Bros has also released a holiday compilation called Gift Wrapped featuring twenty songs including “Deck the Halls” by R.E.M.; last but not least, if you haven’t stopped by the R.E.M.HQ merch store in a while, you can do so by clicking here.
