LONDON ICA PHOTO AND ARTWORK EXHIBIT UP FOR AUCTION

The Institute of Contemporary Arts in London is auctioning the contents of their March 2008 R.E.M. exhibit to benefit their educational programs beginning today. Comprised of 15 mounted prints and two framed gig posters, this unique exhibition, devised and produced for the ICA’s R.E.M. weekend last Easter, features photographs ranging from the band’s earliest gig up through their tour in 2005. According to the ICA’s Alasdair MacGregor, “The collection skillfully captures the inimitable aesthetic and perennial energy of the famed band from Athens, Georgia.”

Curated by the New Yorker’s resident photographer Steve Pyke following a visit to R.E.M. HQ in Athens, the collection showcases art and photography made by and for the band, including two items signed by Michael on his visit to the exhibition.

The R.E.M. exhibition was a hugely successful fundraiser for the ICA not to mention a fantastic experience for all of those fortunate enough to be in attendance. The weekend culminated in a concert at the world famous Royal Albert Hall on March 24th. Now a portion of the visual celebration of the band that was at its heart can be yours to own.
