After a solid week of rehearsals in Athens, R.E.M. kicks off a month filled with live appearances and performances tomorrow night at the Langerado Festival in Big Cypress, Florida. R.E.M.’s headlining slot on March 8th marks a return to the stage for the band whose last live appearance was in Dublin at the Olympia Theatre during a five-night stand in summer 2007. There, R.E.M. rehearsed several new songs, many of which are included on the band’s 14th studio effort, ACCELERATE. ACCELERATE hits stores, traditional and online, on March 31st worldwide and April 1st in the USA. The Langerado audience will be the first to hear the new material in fully polished form.
After Langerado, R.E.M. will head to Austin for the SXSW Festival and a performance at Stubb’s Bar-B-Q on March 12th.
