What a week it was in the UK– we were in and around London most of the week, except for the hop over to Paris for the Rock En Seine Festival (great one by the way) (and many of us pulled an all-nighter to watch Barack rock Denver– wow!).
In celebration of the band’s return to London Saturday night at Twickenham, we’ve put together a little video essay below which chronicles a small slice of R.E.M.’s vast performative history in the city, spanning the early 80s to their most recent stop in March 2008 at the Royal Albert Hall.

British alternative rockers, Elbow, join R.E.M. tonight in Stuttgart for the first of three consecutive shows the two bands will play together in Germany. Elbow’s most recent release, The Seldom Seen Kid (Polydor), went to number 5 on the UK charts in March 2008.
